Keegan joined German side PSV Hamburg for £500,000 in 1977 and went on to become European Player of the Year twice.
He returned to England in 1980, joining Lawrie McMenemy's Southampton and had a stint at Newcastle before hanging up his boots in 1984.
After a few years in the wilderness, Keegan returned to football as manager of Newcastle United, Fulham then England before the pressure.
