Athletico Madrid were beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid yesterday.
Wednesday's Champions League opponents lost their home derby yesterday when Real Madrid beat them 2-1 at the Vicente Calderon. Ruud Van Nistlerooy put Real Madrid 1-0 up after only a minute. Simao must have thought he'd rescued a point for Athletico with a 90th minute equaliser but Higuain scored the winner for Real from the penalty spot seven(!) minutes into injury time.
