Sami Hyypia scored Liverpool's first ever goal in France, when he slotted home from Danny Murphy's pass in Auxerre.
The goal, Hyypia's first since December and his fourth this season, gives Liverpool a valuable away goal to take into the second leg at Anfield next week."To come here and play against a quality team and come off with a 1-0 win is a great result," said the Finnish defender after the game. "I'm happy to but it's going to be a hard game at Anfield.
"We're not yet through and there's another 90 minutes to come but we will do our best."
