Manchester City, flush with a new transfer kitty courtesy of Thaksin Shinawatra, have matched Athletico Madrid's price of £27m for Fernando Torres.
Inter Milan have also made an offer at that price, although the Spanish striker will almost certainly now sign for Liverpool within the next 48 hours.
