Johnson pleased with start

Glen Johnson was pleased to make his Liverpool debut.
The Reds' Summer signing made his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt in last night's pre-season friendly with St Gallen. Johnson played at left-back because of the absence of Andrea Dossena and Fabio Aurelio but said he was just glad to be on the pitch.

"It felt fantastic out there - it was nice to get my first 45 minutes," said the defender.

"Now I can get on with it. The boys have made me feel really welcome from the start and I enjoyed getting out there and putting in a performance with them.

"It's been brilliant out here - I've loved every minute of it. I'm looking forward to the season ahead.

"I have played [at left-back] before, though not recently. But I've been training there for the last few days and I quite enjoy it."
