Rafa disappointed with missed chances

By LFC Online
Saturday, 21st November 2009
Rafael Benitez was disappointed with missing out on victory over Manchester City but was happy with the character shown by his Liverpool side in the 2-2 draw..

A late chance by Lucas could have given the Reds an important three points, but it was not to be.

"I was a little bit disappointed because we had chances at the end, but we showed very good character and until the last minute we were pushing and pushing. Disappointed with the result but you can't say anything because the players were working so hard.

"You could see today when we conceded the first goal and conceded the second goal, you could see the character of the team so in the circumstances it was a very good performance.

"I think that you can see that when some players are fit we will be much better and if we can bring players back from injuries we will be good enough. Today you could see that Gerrard was tired and N'Gog was tired, but if we have more time to train together you will see the improvement.

Agger has five stitches and Babel has an injury to his ankle but its too early to tell so we will have to wait.

"It was important for Yossi after the injury that he had, it was very good news. You could see Riera on the bench, hopefully Johnson could play so we will have some players coming back and be"I was a little bit disappointed because we had chances at the end, but we showed very good character and until the last minute we were pushing and pushing," said Benitez. With a crucial Champions League clash against Debrecen on Tuesday night the Liverpool boss is confident that he will have a strong squad to pick from.

"It was important for Yossi after the injury that he had, it was very good news. You could see Riera on the bench, hopefully Johnson could play so we will have some players coming back and better to manage the team."
