Rafa hoping for Fab deal

The Brazilian defender is out of contract at the end of the season and has already turned down a first contract extension from the club. However, Benitez is confident an agreement can be reached.

"Fabio has been really unlucky. When we spoke to him about an extension he had an injury and he has had a lot of injuries in the past," said the boss.
 
"We made him an offer and the agent said not at the moment.
 
"We will talk to him again in the future because he is a good person and great professional.
 
"Maybe the situation needs to be looked at in a different way. He has to be realistic. I know he's pleased here and the important thing is I have a good relationship with him."
