Rafa: You have to believe!

By Adam Bryant
Saturday, 6th February 2010
Rafael Benitez couldn't have asked for more after his 10-man Liverpool side battled for three points against Everton.

The result means that the Reds have claimed 17 from 21 points in their last seven Premier League games and lifts them into that elusive fourth place.

"It was an amazing performance by the team, working very hard from beginning to the end, with ten players for a lot of the time," said Benitez. "I think it was a massive result for us.

"The fans were behind the team, the team were working so hard bringing the fans with them so I think that everybody came together. We defended well and were dangerous on the counter attack.

"When you talk about derbies its always difficult but the commitment from our players was fantastic, the team worked so everything was positive in terms of team effort. I will not talk about the ref.

"Kuyt is an amazing player. He works hard in every game from the beginning of the season to the end of the season. He can score goals and he can do something special against Everton.

"We will have more confidence for the next game. We will enjoy this over the next few days and our fans will be happy. We are doing much better, we have more confidence. We can still improve, but today with ten players you can't ask for more so we're really pleased.

"The players know we can't be talking too much about future games. We have to start with the first one and always it will be the most important game. They stick together, that's the most important thing - not just the 11 players but the whole squad working so hard you can improve.

"The next too games are important, but Arsenal will be the most important. We know it's a long race and we have to keep going. you have to believe."
