Gerard Houllier is keen on signing Paul Konchesky when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 21-year-old Charlton man can play at either left back or left midfield and would strengthen the Liverpool squad if Houllier is prepared to fork out the £5million that Alan Curbishley will want for him.

There is talk that the Liverpool manager could spend up to £15million when the transfer window reopens as Liverpool look to improve on the poor first half of the season.
