Gerard Houllier is aware that Liverpool's season could fall apart over the next 11 days as they prepare for a UEFA Cup clash with Auxerre and the Worthington Cup Final against Manchester United.

The Liverpool boss has been the subject of public criticism from so-called fans on radio phone-ins and web forums, but believes that the real test of their faith may come over the next two weeks.

"I am concerned about our current run, but this is a time when we will find out who our true supporters are," he said. "There are two new trends in football, the phone-ins and the internet.

"Rival fans can phone up radio stations and pretend to be a Liverpool fan and say this and that is wrong with the club.

"It can be hurtful to hear what people say about us but we have to have the mental strength and togetherness to ride this out."
