Under 18's beaten

By Al Campbell
Tuesday, 9th February 2010
Liverpool are out of the FA Youth Cup.

The Reds lost 1-0 at home to Watford in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup last night. Under 18's coach Rodolfo Borrell admitted it was a disappointing performance from his side.

"Our first half performance was unacceptable and we had too many players below par," said Borrell.

"I thought we were better in the second half. We tried to keep the ball better and create chances but we lost the game and are disappointed.

"I thought from our second half performance we deserved to score but it wasn't to be. They defended well with two strong centre-halves and it wasn't our day.

"We came into this game on the back of two fantastic performances in this competition against Wolves and Leicester in the fourth round. I think our performance against Leicester was the highlight of the Youth Cup this season because that is their only defeat so far.

"I am not happy because at Liverpool we always look to win and we are disappointed."
